Summary of whole project

When we first started the project I didn't know how to use a sound kit or a boom mic however I had experience editing sound before. Throughout the project I learnt more and more about the boom mic for example when we first filmed I did not know about the small triangle which indicated the level of the sound should be at so I struggled to record the sound correctly. However the second time filming I knew about this so the sound was a lot more clean so I became much better at being a sound designer. I had forgotten many editing techniques over the past months that I had learnt earlier however during editing I remembered a lot of them and used them to create certain effects etc.

 I think that I put a lot of effort into the project as I made the first draft of the script when we didn't have much of an idea of what it would be. I also drew multiple set designs as we switched location. I also completed the call sheet and made a draft of the risk assessment but it was replaced later. During production as the sound designer I held the boom pole up for two hours to capture audio and I didn't have much time for breaks. All of the audio other than one track sounded clean and good. The script at the beginning was beyond my job role and at the time of making the script the story we had was not advanced in any way and no one had any ideas when I asked them how I should do it. I also helped come up with the story in general when it needed improving. Overall this project helped me to learn how to use boom mics and sound kits correctly and effectively. It also helped me to refresh my editing skills and script skills.

I think the final film could've been better as I feel the story was not great at some parts and some lines sounded cheesy or silly. A lot of the shots were shaky and out of focus  and they could have been reshot to improve them. I would give the film a 6 out of 10 as I see a lot of improvements that could have been made but we were short on time as the first location that said we were allowed to film at kicked us out and we needed to find another location quickly. If we had more time I would have re-wrote the script if we had more time as I feel it ends too quickly after the couple break up and it happens too quickly. I would've also rewrote a lot of lines. Overall I enjoyed working with the group and I enjoyed my job role of being the sound designer.
