Director
Dave Filoni
Dave Filoni was offered a job my George Lucas to direct Star Wars the clone wars and at first he believed it was a prank but later realised it was real so he went on to direct the clone wars. Dave worked alongside George Lucas throughout the clone wars series to create the story arcs of each episode. Dave worked with everyone in the studio closely to ensure they were all doing the correct stuff for the project. Dave used a script to help his work as a director so that he can tell his crew to draw the correct stuff.

He also used storyboards to plan what would happen in each episode in the series which greatly helps the whole crew

Dave needed good leadership skills to be able to carry out his role as director because working on an animated TV show is difficult because the scripts and storyboards have to match up and the animators need to know what to animate etc.

Production Sound Mixer
Benjamin Burtt
Benjamin Burtt worked on all of the star wars films sounds such as the lightsaber hum, R2D2's sounds and more. Benjamin also has a reputation for using the Wilhelm scream in most of his film which has been a classic sound effect for many years. Burtt was essential in the crew of many films because of his creative mind. Burtt used all sorts of things to use for sound effects for example he used an old ladies voice for the voice of ET from "ET the extra terrestrial" so Ben used lots of different random things for all the sound effects in his films. He used a Audio interface for the microphones he used

Ben mainly used Boom mics to pick up the sounds he needed as well as many other high quality microphones.

To be a sound designer you need a highly creative mind to be able to think of ways to get certain sound effects and you would also need a good sense of hearing so that you can pick up all sounds from each sample.

Comparing the two
A director has a big responsibility and they are responsible for overseeing the whole TV show/ film and they need to tell people where they need to be and tell people what they need to do. The production sound mixer creates the sound effects for the whole film so they are almost as important as the director because without sound effects a film can be bland. The directors impact is massive but the people outside the film may not notice it whereas the production sound mixers role is also massive but their impact is a lot more noticeable because you hear the work they have done throughout the film. Overall the director is more important than the production sound mixer because without a director there is no one to point everyone in the right direction however without the production sound designer a film can be bland and boring because there are no sound effects.
